Educational Funds For Schools

Working Directly With Colleges and Universities

Henry Strong was a distinguished Chicago attorney who died in 1911. He appreciated the value of his own higher education and, later in life, provided financial assistance to many students. In his will, he established a foundation that would perpetuate this practice. The Henry Strong Educational Foundation is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation officially formed in 1919. More than 100 years later, the foundation’s Board of Directors remains committed to Henry Strong’s vision of making financial aid available to worthy students.

The foundation works directly with colleges and universities by making funds available for the schools to make loans to their students. The schools themselves administer their loans, thus streamlining the loan application process. As students repay their loans, the schools can use those funds for loans to additional students. Over the years, thousands of students have benefitted from the vision and legacy of Henry Strong.
